Acrophobia: A sometimes irrational fear of heights
Gotham City-16 years ago
The sky was partly cloudy though as the day went on the sun began to break through the cloudy prison to shine light onto Gotham City. In the park parents brought their children and other family members to play one of these parents was Vicki Vale with her young daughter Elena. The seven old girl had her red hair curled and pulled into a ponytail a outfit that consisted of a long sleeve pink shirt and dark blue jeans. Her mother’s outfit was much more mature and showed off the womanly curves that Elena would soon inherit once she came of age.
The second Elena’s feet exited her mother’s car and touched the floor she was gone lost in the park playground. Vicki merely sighed and went to the bench to sit and watch her child while talking to some of the other mothers she had befriended since this became a regular thing for the reporter. Meanwhile Elena quickly made friends with some other kids at the park, they liked to pretend and go on adventures like their favorite superheroes, today their big mission was to climb the tallest tree in the park they could find.
Elena stared up at the tree she couldn’t see where the tree ended and where the clouds in the sky began.
“Woah….she muttered awe struck at the sight before her.
“I bet you won’t be able to reach the top of that Vale!” Jared the neighborhood boy snickered at Elena.
“I so could!” Elena said getting angry at the boy’s teasing.
“Then go ahead and do it!” Jared ordered pushing Elena roughly so her back hit the tree hard. Elena groaned slightly but didn’t cry out inside she turned around and began to climb the tree. She climbed and climbed though she didn’t make it to the top it seemed to be almost in her grasp by a few branches or so. Elena went to reach for the next branch though it was too high up for her to stretch for, still determined Elena tried to stand up on the branch she was on and then lost her balance. The seven year old screamed as she fell back down to the earth hitting branches hard as she went and finally landed on the hard ground her left arm twisted into an awkward angle. The kids she was with screamed and ran away screaming for their parents, Elena was in too much pain to move and curled into a ball crying from the pain of her broken arm. When Vicki found her she immediately drove her child to the hospital though Elena learned one thing from that experience…be very very cautious of heights.
