Elena yawned checking the alarm clock next to her bed, it read seven thirty am, and this was sleeping in for the young red head. It was a Saturday so that meant Elena didn’t have to report in to Gotham Police Headquarters till Monday morning or unless she was called in for some strange reason. Getting up Elena stretched a bit before running a hand through her red waves, Elena knew she had bed head but decided to fix it later. Leaving the bed a bit reluctantly, she left her room and went to the kitchen passing Matthew’s room in the process.
Matthew was Elena’s nephew though also her son by adoption, Elena was still trying to figure out which one she should consider him to be. After the disappearance of her brother Damian and his wife, Matthew was left homeless. Elena didn’t want him to end up like the kids she’d arrested in Gotham or the type that she found dead, but at the time she was just nineteen barely leaving Vicki’s control and becoming her own person. She wasn’t really expecting to be a parent so soon, if it wasn’t for Barbara and the other Batman Family members Elena might have not taken him in. Not to say that Elena didn’t like Matthew, because she did but she didn’t know him that well and Elena was his last remaining blood relative left so it only made sense that she was the one who took him in.
Going into the kitchen Elena prepared herself some coffee before retreating back to her room to change and shower. Her apartment wasn’t the fanciest in Gotham nor was it a piece of crap either, it was a nice apartment and lucky to be able to pay it with her salary. Of course Vicki was all too willing to help her daughter pay for it, Elena hadn’t asked for her mother’s help in a while. Though maybe once Elena got a little bit more money be it from a new job or begging her brother Tim for help she would consider buying a bigger place, something that would give Matthew and her some more training room.
After her shower Elena changed into a workout outfit, the jacket and pants were black though the tank top was blue. She pulled her hair back into a ponytail so it wouldn’t get in the way plus she preferred her hair being down when it was time to be Batwoman. Sighing she had to remember she needed to think of another nightly activity with her own father taking her cowl away…for now at least. Shaking those thoughts away she grabbed her keys and was about to go out the door, when she heard something behind her turning around she had a small smile for her nephew.
