Halina was excited about today; it was an air show today in Metropolis so it was the chance for Ferris Aircraft to show off their best pilots, Halina was glad to say she was one of the pilots in performance today. Supposedly it was a pretty big deal; the Daily Planet would be there reporting as well as other news sources though that was probably for an interview with Carol Ferris afterward. Halina suited up and looked out at the landing strip everyone was doing last minute checkups on everything before the show started; the stands were being filled up or just got filled from what she could tell. She sighed before going back inside the building and to the locker room.
Women had a separate locker room from the men though really Halina was the only pilot for Ferris Aircraft from what she knew. Opening her locker she eyed the jacket that she had come to retrieve, it was brown bomber jacket then she saw a familiar picture on the door of the locker. With a small but sad smile to pulled it closer to her for a more detailed look. The picture showed a family of three, Hal Jordan, her father, a younger Carol Ferris, her mother, and a much younger Halina Jordan. It was taken before Hal disappeared with the rest of the Justice League. On his finger was a green ring that Halina knew to be the symbol of his membership into the Green Lantern Corps. He used to make images from his ring for Halina when she was a child.
“Wish me luck Daddy” Halina whispered before putting the picture in the pocket of her jacket and hustling out of the locker room shaking off the nerves. The weather wasn’t the greatest, it was dark and almost gloomy spelling trouble for the pilots though nothing too bad. Getting into the jet Halina made the usual preparations for a takeoff. One by one her co-workers flew off, when she got the all clear Halina did the same.
The sky was a second home to Halina, she liked it much more than being down on the earth walking but today something didn’t feel right. The clouds were dark like a coming storm though the weather forecast predicted that it wouldn’t come till a few more days. The sense of foreboding wasn’t very helpful either. Shaking her head Halina pulled her head back into the game working with the routine to wow the viewers in the stands below.
The young woman had something planned for the show especially, it took some time to get Carol to approve but Halina was sure that this would work. The pilot broke away from the group flying higher and higher into the sky. She was getting pretty high to the point that she was breathing heavily through her oxygen mask then it came. A strike of lightning that hit the jet the whole plane seemed to be going through electrical difficulties then a black smoke coming from the left wing.
“Oh crap” Halina said trying to steer the jet into gliding it would by her some time though the jet started spiraling down instead. oh no oh no oh no Halina thought trying her best not to freak out and pressed on her seatbelt to eject herself though it was stuck. Halina screamed trying to see if she could steady herself in some way but it was useless, Halina Jordan was going to die unless by some miracle the plane was stopped.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Chris was enjoying the little bit of downtime that he had. He managed to have lunch with mom and now he was hanging out with his uncle Jimmy at the annual Metropolis ‘Flight of Angels’ air show. Every year for the last ten years the best pilots from around the world came to the city to showcase their aerial talents. He just wished that the weather for the event had been a bit better.
You know kiddo, you should put your name in next year. I’m sure you could out fly all these pilots combined, [/I] Jimmy Olsen said with a grin on his face. Shaking his head with a smile of his own, Chris looked up into the sky with his dark brown eyes to watch as a group of various pilots put on one of their routines. It was in the middle of the routine that the lead pilot, Halina Jordan, broke away from the pack and started for the sky. He watched as she pushed the fighter higher and higher until CRACKABOOM! The lightning hit the jet and almost immediately the craft was plunging to the ground in a nose dive. Just remember to pose for a couple pictures so that your mom has something for the front page okay, Jimmy said jokingly before he rushed off. Rushing away from the group of worried spectators, who watched at the jet plummeted to the earth. Peeling off his clothes to so that only his suit remained, Chris took flight, and in a blur of blue and red appeared in front of the jet. Looking at Halina with a bright smile, he flashed her a quick wink, and grabbed the front of the aircraft. Now what did we learn? He asked jokingly as he slowed their decent to the ground below.[/blockquote][/font]
Halina was both relieved and surprised when her jet stopped spiraling down wards when she looked up she found that it had been stopped by the man of steel himself. “So what have we learned?” Superman asked her with a smile like this was some like joke. Halina shook her head and smiled back instead relieved to be alive, she removed her mask and helmet her hair a mess though a wide smile on her face.
“I have a feeling never believe a weatherman isn’t it” She joked back with a little bit of a laugh after her comment. She was alive that was all that mattered for now. And she was saved by Superman how many people could say that?! She tried to get a good look at him memorize everything about him if she could. He was pretty good looking though she was more taken with the fact that he could fly.
“I’m pretty jealous” Halina murmured aloud to herself, she wished she could fly. That was an experience both her parents had. To soar the cloud without a plane beneath you or anything like that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ When she had made that comment about not trusting the weatherman, Chris smirked a bit and shook his head lightly. That wasn?t quite the lesson he was talking about, but it was a cute remark nonetheless that earned her a way out of a lecture about knowing one?s limits. Besides, he was pretty sure that Carol was going to lecture her enough anyway once the two got back to the ground.
Don?t be, he said to her with a grin. Jealously doesn?t become you Miss Jordan. Besides, you?d be surprised how many bugs you can end up in your mouth if you?re not too careful. I had a fly that got stuck in my teeth for days once. Not pretty.
Truth was he had never had to worry about bugs getting in his mouth at all, but he wasn?t about to tell her that. She was probably feeling pretty craptastic as it was with nearly destroying a multimillion dollar aircraft and almost ending up dead. He didn?t want to add flight envy on top of it.
Landing softly on the ground below, the Kryptonian superhero set the jet gently on the ground in front of him. Hovering up over the cockpit, Superman opened up the glass casing, and held out his hand to Halina. When he had noticed Jimmy out of the corner of his eye snapping pictures with a bright smile on his face, Chris couldn?t help but let out a soft chuckle.
Thank your for flying Air Superman. We hope you enjoy our in flight movie.

Halina laughed as she took Superman’s hand as he helped her out of the jet that she once considered to be the safest place for her. After this she was going to really get some relax then figure out how to avoid something like this happening again, maybe go to counseling to figure out why she has to show off so much. From the corner of her eye she saw a photographer from the Daily Planet snapping pictures of the two, Halina couldn’t help but blush a little. This wouldn’t be her best picture not by a long shot. She took off her helmet tossing it inside the plane happy to be able to breathe the air on her own and not from some kind of machine.
Halina looked out at the crowd that had appeared around the two looking for a familiar face, she saw her co-pilots then some people from the stands then the occasional reporter begging for an interview but there was only one person she wanted to see right now, probably the person who would be the angriest at her for what she did. “Mom?” Halina whispered her head searching for Carol Jordan, then she spotted the woman pushing her way through the crowd with the strength only a mother could have. “Halina!” Carol shouted finally standing in front of the crowd. Halina smiled and moved away from Superman temporarily to embrace her mother, Carol muttered to her over and over to not scare her like that, and how she thought she lost her again. Halina felt a singe of guilt, Carol had already lost one Hal there was no need for her to lose another. Turning around to face her savior Halina ran a hand through her hair smiling at Superman. “You probably get this like a thousand times a day but thank you Superman”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ He watched in silence as Halina rushed over to her mother and embraced her. He saw the fear in Carol’s features as she hugged her daughter tightly and couldn’t help but wonder if Lois had wore that same look whenever he had rushed off on his own little flights to fight the next threat against Earth and the Universe.
When Halina turned to face him, Chris made his way through the swarm or reporters, photographers, and admirers to face the young pilot whom he had just saved. When she had thanked him, he let a small smile cross over his face as he let out a quick chuckle.
You’d be surprised Miss Jordan. Usually its ‘it’s Superman. Shoot him.’ And then I’m like ‘guys, I’m Superman. Bullets don’t work remember?’ Then I take down the bad guys and move on, he said jokingly as he looked down into her eyes. But the sentiment is certainly appreciated Miss Jordan. So thank you and you’re welcome.
